VERY IMPORTANT - PRINT THESE INSTRUCTIONS
BEFORE PROCEEDING AND FOLLOW THEM CAREFULLY!
1.) Upon joining LRPA, you will receive an automated email invitation from the LRPA Moderator. This email will be entitled, Yahoo! Groups: You're invited! Join LRPA today. Open this email and click on the button that says, Join this group! A web browser page will open. Click on the link which reads, "Join the group."
- Tips:
- If you are expecting, but have not received, this email, remember to check your "Junk E-Mail" folder
- those using a Novell GroupWise mail account (LHSC and SJHC), check "do not allow" on the privacy warning box, otherwise the web browser page will not load
- If you only wish to receive LRPA messages & announcements by email: Once the web browser page opens, Instead of clicking on Join the group, click on the webpage link that says, join the mailing list instead. A confirmation window will appear and a confirmation email sent. No further steps are necessary.
- Note: LRPA members who choose to join only the mailing list will not be able to access the Secure Members Area or materials within (meeting minutes, flyers, archived presentations, photos, etc.)
2.) This will take you to a new internet browser page. Under, "Don't have a Yahoo! ID?" click Sign up.
- Tip:
- if you already have a Yahoo! ID, simply enter it along with your password under, "Sign in to Yahoo!" and click the Sign In button. Now jump to Step 9
3.) Fill in all required information on the following page, then click the Create My Account button at the bottom. The next browser page that appears says in a box on the right, "Ready to experience Yahoo! Groups?" We will leave this window for now (until Step 9), but DO NOT CLOSE THIS WINDOW!
- Tips:
- the ID and password you choose will be the ID and password you will routinely use to log into the LRPA Secure Members Area. Don't forget them! If you do, though, the LRPA Webmaster can remind you of your ID and you can click here to reset your password
- under Alternate Email enter the email address you wish all LRPA Secure Members Area correspondence to be delivered to
- unclick the box with the accompanying text: Contact me occasionally about special offers, promotions and Yahoo! features (this will prevent unsolicited emails from Yahoo! Canada)
4.) Check your email inbox (the inbox for the preferred email address you've just entered). When you receive an email with the subject heading, "Verify this email address", click on the verification link provided within-text.
5.) Clicking on the link found within that email will open a new, second window in your internet browser which thanks you and confirms that your email address is now verified. Under, "Ready to move on?", within that window, click the Continue button.
6.) This opens a new page. Enter the new Secure Members Area password you chose back in Step 3 and click the Sign In button at the bottom-right of the page.
7.) The next internet browser page to open is entitled, "Manage your email addresses". Click and highlight the small circle beside the preferred email address you entered in Step 3 (the email address you wish all LRPA Secure Members Area correspondence to be delivered to). Doing so will ensure that the Yahoo! Canada address you had to create during this process won't ever need to be checked (i.e., only your preferred email address will be used). Now click the Save button.
8.) Remember that window you left behind in Step 3? The one with the box on the right-hand side entitled, "Ready to experience Yahoo! Groups?". Find that window again and now click on the Continue button within it.
- Tip:
- did you lose that window from Step 3? No worries - simply go to lrpa.ca and click on the "Members Area" button on the top menu bar. A new window will open with a blue, "Join This Group!" button on the top right-hand side of the page. Click that button. The page you require in Step 9 below to continue the process should then open (although you may first be prompted for your new ID and password again - don't worry, once everything is configured you won't be asked for your ID and password so continuously!)
9.) You're almost done! The final page that now opens is entitled, "LRPA: Secure Members Area. Join This Group":
- under #1 double-check that the Email Address highlighted is your preferred email address
- under #2 it is suggested that you leave the "Message Delivery" option as Individual Email, but if you have a strong preference otherwise feel free to select a different option
- under #3 choose your desired "Message Preference"
10.) Click the blue Join button at the bottom-right.
That's it! Close all browser windows.
You will receive an automated email from the LRPA Moderator (who is also the LRPA Webmaster) welcoming you to the group. Now you will receive messages to the membership and are free to access files and information on the LRPA Secure Members Area whenever you like.
There is no need to search or learn the functions of this new Secure Members Area to benefit from it. Direct links to each feature can already be found within the Menu bar (under "Members Area") and throughout the LRPA website. Simply click on these links. If you are already logged into the LRPA Secure Members Area a new window will immediately open containing the secure page you requested; if you aren't logged into the LRPA Secure Members Area you will be prompted first for your ID and Password before the secure page you requested will appear. Once you are finished with that secure page, simply close the window and continue browsing the LRPA website. Tip: when logging into the LRPA Secure Members Area on your private computer, ensure the "Keep Me Signed In" box is checked. This will save you from entering your ID and Password each time you access these secure pages (for up to 2 weeks at a time).

If at any time you forget your login ID for the Secure Members Area (SMA), the LRPA Webmaster can resend it to you. If at any time you forget your password for the Secure Members Area (SMA), just click here and follow the instructions.
