Dr. Michelle Gilpin,
Psychologist |
Welcome!!
I have been a full time psychologist for the past 6 years. Prior to
that time, I worked for several years (too many to count!) as a psychometrist
in a children’s rehabilitation centre. I then returned to school
and completed my Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology at the University
of Guelph. (go Gryphons!!). I currently work part time in a public
school board and run a private practice just outside London. I enjoy
working with children of all ages and their families! Feel free to
contact me if you have questions about clinical work with children,
working in a multidisciplinary setting, consulting work or starting
a private practice. If you just need support and a way to get connected
within our friendly and energetic professional community, you’ve
come to the place!! All the Best.

Hello! I
still feel fairly new to the city myself, even though I've now lived
here since 2004. I work at the Child & Parent Resource Institute
(CPRI) on the west side of London, which is a tertiary-care facility
for children & adolescents. As an employee for the Ontario Ministry
of Children & Youth Services, and as the creator of a clinical service
which partners with agencies throughout Southwestern Ontario, I would
have a lot I could share in terms of youth services in and around
the area and also in terms of program development. I also do a ton
of presenting so could speak authoritatively on knowledge transfer
in this community.
I don't currently
work privately, so there are no doubt better "ambassadors"
to connect with if that is your direction; nor am I registered to
work with adults. At least for now...

I am an
early career psychologist, (currently completing my supervised practice
year) who has been in London since 2006. I feel quite fortunate to
have been introduced to LRPA shortly after my arrival. LRPA has been
a great resource to connect with other local psychological service
providers, so I'm happy to return the favour and act as an Ambassador.
London is a great city to be a psychological service provider, beacuse
there is such a great professional community to be found here.
I came to London as a behavioural medicine intern at London Health
Sciences Centre. I now work for a private rehabilitation company called
Brainworks. The majority of our clients have been involved in a motor
vehicle collision. Many of our clients have brain injuries, chronic
pain, or psychiatric illnesses. I am priveleged to work with a great
team within Brainworks, including a psychological associate, social
workers, and rehabilitation therapists. We also work with many other
health professionals in the community (including case managers, occupational
therapists, physiotherapists, speech-language pathologists, vocational
consultants etc.) to facilitate our clients' rehabilitation. I would
be happy to share my experiences of working in the hospital and in
the community in health/rehabilitation areas to any psychology personnel
who are new to the area or thinking of coming to London.
